These sweet little angels are my third cousins. I have never met them but one day maybe I will. The irony here is that it looks like this picture was taken in the house I lived in so many years ago. It is the house their father was born in and the house that his father lived in for a good portion of his life. My other aunt and uncle lived there for a time as well. When I was a little girl it scared me to look out of the bathroom window and see the lights far away of what was then the TB hospital ---- it is now the County Campus. I thought the lights were eyes watching me in the dark. My mother and my Aunt Jean calmed my fears. They, however, would actually get under the bed or in a closet when there was a thunder storm. They would insist that I be with them to be safe.
Christmas 2007. Ethan, Joelle and Bandit
Almost all of our Christmas stockings hung on that mantle at one time or another through the years. There are so many memories attached to that fireplace, in that living room, in that house, on that hill. The past Christmas Eves; the spring Lilly of the Valley blooming; the old barn; the woods; the path up the hill; the trail to the ponds ----- places, things and people I'll never forget.
